Performance Courseware's instructional design team was tasked with health insurance customer inquiry training—a six-week traditional classroom training course. Because of the volume and complexity of the course, it was overwhelming for new hire trainees. A key goal was to analyze the cause of turnover for these employees and reduce it. Levels were astronomical. The solution? Performance Courseware was able to convert the six-week lecture into a revamped, task-based design with far greater effectiveness in only two and one-half weeks. When counting money saved on salaries during training and the huge boost in job satisfaction, this re-design effort paid for itself in the first quarter of implementation.
