![]() August 15, 2008Performance Courseware has been chosen to receive a Telly Award for outstanding achievement in a public service production as part of the 29th annual competition. In between educational productions, Performance Courseware developed the fundraising DVD as well as two public service announcements to help open the doors for the Restoring Hope Transplant House in Middleton, WI. Brian Thompson, production manager, and Nick Carvin, graphic development manager, captured and edited HD footage of the Restoring Hope facility. They also captured key interviews with the project director and transplant recipients with the help of Barbara Vaughan, field producer and Brian’s wife. The script for the 9-minute piece developed from their words and was woven together with original music composed by Steve Godfrey, audio production director. Scott Henning, interactive development manager, created the final DVD and web video program. “It’s an honor to receive the award because it confirms the kind of talent that we have on staff as well as our commitment to quality and service in everything we do,” said Dean Mieske, President of Performance Courseware. “But, when I consider our award, I feel best about how it symbolizes that we were able to make a difference in the community we serve.” In a recent letter to Performance Courseware, Cindy Herbst explained her appreciation for the work that was done: “When I came for the first viewing, I could hardly believe the craftsmanship …. You far surpassed our expectations.” Patients come to the nearby UW Health in Madison, WI, for the world-class transplant center, but they and their caregivers often lack a convenient and inexpensive place to stay while waiting for an organ to become available or while recovering, which can be lengthy. PC Inc has helped to make a place like this a reality for future patients. In addition to the fundraising DVD, Performance Courseware produced two separate public service announcements for the transplant house. The first showcased Bret Bielema advocating Restoring Hope while telling of his sister who was an organ donor. The second PSA portrayed Packer legend John Brockington backing the charitable home.
